The Venue
The MBS campus is located about 5 km away from Comedie Square (La Place de la Comédie) that is one of the key meeting points at the center of Montpellier. See here.
The easiest way to get to the MBS campus is by Tram line 3. The tram stop Hôtel du Département is just in front of the campus.
It takes about 15 minutes to go from the city center to Hôtel du Département, and the tram is quite frequent (i.e.. every 7 minutes or so). From the center you take the tram with direction Mosson or Juvignac. From MBS (to the center) you take the one with direction Lattes or Perols.
There are two tram stops just a couple of minutes away from Comedie Square on foot, the one that is opposite to the central train station (Gare Saint-Roch – République) and the Observatoire.

Accommodation
Any place of accommodation between the Train station Gare Saint-Roch (close to point 35 in the map) and the Arc de Triomphe (point 9 in the map) would be ideally located as you will be in the historical center of Montpellier and in walking distance from the stops of tram line 3. The historical part is marked on the map, and obviously you may also stay by its borders, especially on the left-hand side (on the map) where the tram line 3 passes (e.g. see stops of Saint-Denis, Gambetta, Plan Cabanes, essentially all being a few minutes walk from Comedie, etc.)
Most of the Antigone area (see e.g. point 36 in the map) is also within walking distance to the center, but you may also take line 1 from Antigone and then change to line 3 at Gare Saint-Roch.
The area of Hotel de Ville (Town Hall of Montpellier, point 38 in map) is also relatively close to the city center (e.g. Comedie square is 1.7km away), and there are two stops of tram line 3 a few meters away (Voltaire and Rives du Lez) that can take you directly from the Hotel de Ville area to MBS in about 20-25 minutes.

Information about the tram is available here. You can download their app in your mobile and buy the e-tickets that suit you the best. They have tickets of various duration (e.g. 24h, 48h, 72h, etc.) or you may buy a batch of 10 tickets of 1h.30m duration (each to be activated when you use the tram) that come with a discount,
In addition to Google maps, you may want to use the Moovit app that shows accurate information about alternative transportation options that you have.
